The team has been accused of being partly composed of men. writes “The Berlingske”.
It was said to be about eight of the team’s players, according Mojtabi Sharifi, an official close to the Iranian league, that has the wrong gender to play in a women’s team.
Players “has played on the Iranian national women team without having completed sex change operations,” said Mojtabi Sharifi Wednesday in an interview with netmediet Young Journalists’ Club.
The media is founded by Iran’s official radio and television monopoly IRIB.
It is not known which of the national team players, Sharifi accused of cheating by sex, but it is not the first time there has been a suspicion that there is a little too much testosterone on the Iranian national women.
Both in 2010 and in 2014 the press wrote about the men on the team. Among others in the English media The Telegraph.
The interview with Mojtabi Sharifi has now led to the Iranian authorities ordering a gender test of the “woman” national team.
But how is it even possible that there may sneaking men into a national women?
Well. Despite a strict Sharia law, it is actually legal to change sex in the otherwise highly religious Iran (One wonder why, and it is similar in other very religious Muslim countries in the middle east).
Sex change operations performed over long periods – often up to a few years, writes “The Berlingske”, and that is why there can sneak men into a national women.
